Uranyl Dithionate

Uranyl Dithionate is not stable. When sodium dithionate is added to a solution of a uranyl salt, the yellow solution may be evaporated to the consistency of a syrup, but on further concentration in vacuo over sulphuric acid it undergoes decomposition with evolution of sulphur dioxide.
